April 26, 2013. Sacramento. When Japan’s Fukushima power plants experienced nuclear meltdown immediately after the tsunami in March 2011, US officials assured Americans the radioactive fallout would never reach the US. And when it did only days later, the Obama administration reiterated there was no danger. But a new independent report cites a drastic spike in radiation exposure in babies across 5 western US states.

President Obama and the White House are sticking by their promise two years ago that Americans were not in any danger whatsoever from radiation exposure from the Fukushima nuclear meltdown across the Pacific Ocean in Japan. America’s corporate owned media isn’t talking about it either. But independent medical associations and nuclear watchdogs are slowly releasing evidence that the United States was not only hit with a major dose of radiation, but it still is and will only get worse.
US hit with radioactive rainwater
The most recent report was published last month by the Open Journal of Pediatrics and titled, ‘Elevated airborne beta levels in Pacific/West Coast US States and trends in hypothyroidism among newborns after the Fukushima nuclear meltdown.’ The study documented exponentially higher levels of radiation across the entire US in the days after the Fukushima nuclear catastrophe. Hit especially hard were the five western-most US states of Hawaii, California, Oregon, Washington and Alaska.
Showing just how dishonest the Obama administration was with the American people in the days following the Japanese tsunami and resulting nuclear meltdown, the report explains, ‘Large amounts of fallout disseminated worldwide from the meltdowns in four reactors at the Fukushima-Dai-ichi plant in Japan beginning March 11, 2011 included radioiodine isotopes. Just days after the meltdowns, I-131 concentrations in US precipitation was measured up to 211 times above normal. Highest levels of I-131 and airborne gross beta were documented in the five US States on the Pacific Ocean.’
Cases of nuclear contamination spike
The basic understanding of radiation poisoning is that the human body protects itself by soaking up the radioactive contaminant in the thyroid. But that leads to fatal medical conditions like thyroid cancer and a host of other deadly side effects. According to the same study, beginning one week after the meltdown, the number of congenital hypothyroid cases in those five US states began increasing noticeably. In comparison, the number of cases in 36 other US states was dropping.
The report details, ‘The number of congenital hypothyroid cases in these five states from March 17-December 31, 2011 was 16% greater than for the same period in 2010, compared to a 3% decline in 36 other US States (p < 0.03). The greatest divergence in these two groups (+28%) occurred in the period March 17-June 30.’ Not to be outdone, a separate study cited by RT News showed that a staggering 44.2% of Fukushima school-aged children have suffered from radiation exposure. That particular study tested 95,000 Japanese kids.
Media black-out
As far back as one year ago, we at Whiteout Press began warning readers that, contrary to what the US government was telling us, America was being slammed by radioactive debris from Japan. Images of an entire ocean full of tsunami debris began washing ashore first in Hawaii, then along the west coast. Small and large pieces of fractured plastic were joined by anything that could float. Aided by the ocean current, and contaminated with radiation from Fukushima, the debris began washing ashore in the US. And it continues washing ashore today.

We aren’t the only ones who’ve noticed a media black-out throughout the US corporate news industry. Earlier this year, OpEdNews.com wrote, ‘You would think that it should be easy to find detailed updates on the Fukushima disaster’s impact on our fishing industry, milk production, global radiation distribution patterns, etc. You would be mistaken. The massive media coverage following the initial disaster has fallen nearly silent. Some frustrated environmental advocates have suggested that there is a media blackout.’
The article detailed a number of statistics from the end of 2012 that showed extensive radioactive contamination, not just across Japan, but America as well. One study found that fish caught off Japan’s coast more than a year after the meltdown still had radiation contamination levels 380 times the government’s safety limit. The report also said, ‘After 10 years, the concentrations become nearly homogeneous over the whole Pacific, with higher values in the east, extending along the North American coast with a maximum (~1 — 10 -‘4) off Baja California.’
Contaminated US soldiers sue
Last month, it was reported that 70,000 US military personnel and family members were invited to join a class action lawsuit against the power company that owns the nuclear facility responsible for Fukushima’s meltdowns. The suit seeks $2 billion in damages for the US soldiers who responded to the catastrophe in the days following the disaster.
All US troops and their families who were stationed in and around Japan at the time of the tsunami are eligible to join the suit. But specifically, sailors aboard the USS Ronald Reagan have been encouraged to participate. The nuclear-powered ‘supercarrier’ was stationed off South Korea at the time of the tsunami and responded almost immediately.
As detailed by NewScientist.com last month, the suit was filed in the District Court for the Southern California District. The plaintiffs and their attorneys allege that TEPCO, the Japanese utility company that owns the Fukushima nuclear plant, knowingly and purposely underestimated the nuclear fallout levels when the US offered Japan assistance immediately after the meltdown. Some of the recent medical problems US military personnel near Fukushima report include leukemia, testicular cancer, vision problems and menstrual bleeding.
Amazingly, the Obama White House and the World Health Organization continue to stick by their original position that no Americans, not even those stationed in Japan at the time of the meltdown, were exposed to dangerous levels of radiation at any time. The Pentagon even has a website for military families where they can check the radiation levels near US military bases throughout Japan. The levels posted have never approached dangerous levels however. Environmental activists remind everyone that much of the area is closed to non-government personnel and independent measurements smuggled out of Fukushima have shown radiation levels ten-times higher than the numbers being released by the US and Japanese governments.
