This weekend’s United We Stand Fest at UCLA postponed

October 10, 2013. Los Angeles. The much anticipated United We Stand Festival scheduled for this weekend at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion has been postponed. The blowout event featuring independents and third parties, national news personalities, grassroots activists and anti-establishment musical acts has been rescheduled for May 10, 2014.

Cutting the timing extremely close with only a few days before the long-awaited event this Saturday, organizers of United We Stand Fest sent out emails yesterday alerting attendees, supporters and the media that the event was suddenly postponed.

The festival is being organized by Free and Equal, the same organization that sponsored and coordinated the only all-inclusive Presidential debates in both 2008 and 2012. No mention was made regarding the specific reason for the event’s rescheduling.

‘Free & Equal Elections Foundation’s “United We Stand Fest,” a politically themed music event, is being rescheduled from October 12, 2013 to May 10, 2014,’ yesterday’s email from Free and Equal read, ‘UCLA Student Groups and event organizers are working together utilizing the additional time to promote and build the festival ensuring that this first of its kind event is globally recognized and awakens the nation.’

Free and Equal’s Founder Christina Tobin excitedly informed attendees that the newly scheduled festival would be even bigger and better than originally planned. “The UCLA Student Groups’ recent interest is a great sign of hope; the possibilities are endless,” she told supporters, “Student leaders see this event as an opportunity to join Free & Equal’s movement and help bring about the long overdue electoral reform our nation needs. We welcome their support and participation with open arms and feel UCLA is the perfect kick-off to our Ten-Stop University Bus Tour.”

The 2014 United We Stand Fest will be held at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion, the University’s newly renovated, 10,000-capacity arena. Scheduled to perform are popular musical acts such as Founding Members of Wu-Tang Clan, Golden State and Saving Abel. Notable speakers joining the long list of participants include three-time Emmy Award-winning journalist Amber Lyon, RT America’s Abby Martin, 2012 presidential candidates Jill Stein and Gary Johnson, and many more well-known grassroots activists and independent news personalities.

Showing how diverse the fest’s speakers and participants are, they include; civil rights activist Amelia Boynton Robinson, anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan, 19-year-old founder of People Against the NDAA Dan Johnson, Hustlebear.com founder Judd Weiss, Occupy’s Justin Wedes, political comedian Lee Camp, writer-poet Maytha Alhassen-Sawaha, NORML’s Sabrina Fendrick, Sheriff Richard Mack, and a host of representatives from Buzzsaw, Young Americans for Liberty and many more.
