May 9, 2013. West Palm Beach. (ONN) Few places in the US have as many passionate patriots, Constitutionalists and libertarians as the state of Florida. Occasionally it seems as if they’re growing faster than they can organize their efforts. The National Liberty Federation is addressing that and has revamped their website into a state of the art social media headquarters for patriotic Americans across the country.
Liberty.com changes to LibertyFederation.com
A month or two ago, this author got into a heated exchange with one of the purveyors of Liberty.com. Not really sure who we were communicating with, the disagreement centered on the use and abuse of posting privileges, not to mention the value of the domain Liberty.com.
A quick trip to Liberty.com today shows the site is owned and operated by Liberty Global, one of the largest cable television operators in the world. With operations in 13 countries and annual revenue of $10.3 billion, it’s obvious this multinational corporation is in no way connected to America’s grassroots liberty movement.
The libertarians, patriots and Constitutionalists at the National Liberty Federation (NLF) confirm that fact in an announcement last week, ‘Please also note that we are no longer using Liberty.com and our new domain name is LibertyFederation.com.’
Social Media headquarters
“Patriots, we have upgraded our site, www.LibertyFederation.com, including some of the features you enjoy on Facebook,” says LPF’s Everett Wilkinson, “Once logged in, you can give ‘status updates’ on either your profile page or the ‘activity’ page. One of the cool features is that you can also post pictures and links.”
The National Liberty Federation describes its new site and mission on the group’s home page, ‘We are the headquarters for the American Patriots and the fight for Liberty! Our mission is to advocate liberty by informing the public and helping communities secure public policy that is consistent with ideals of our values of free markets, limited government and fiscal responsibility. Join LibertyFederation.com and you can Post Blogs, Create Events, Create Pages, Connect with Fellow Patriots!’
NLF goes into further detail concerning its positions, mission and goals in it’s ‘About’ section. The page explains, ‘The National Liberty Federation (NLF) is dedicated to promoting awareness regarding our inalienable rights. Through educational endeavors, public forums and other mass communications, we seek to ensure our citizenry, members of the media, punditry, and government, remain focused on the importance of free enterprise, limited government, fiscal responsibility, individual liberty, and American heritage, as a means for perpetuating a free society. LibertyFederation.com is both a nonpartisan and a not-for-profit organization.’
Things to do on LibertyFederation.com
The site’s coordinators were kind enough to give Whiteout Press its own user name and account. The service is free and the site seems to function well considering it was just launched and the owners are still soliciting feedback from users.
Among the sections of the website that members can take advantage of, there are destinations titled:
- Activity – A Twitter-like page that allows members to post remarks using 300 characters or less.
- Issues – A brief list of the subjects the site covers, including the US Constitution, states rights, government waste, and more.
- Resource Center – Contains a list of helpful publications such as, ‘How to Communicate with Congress’, ‘How to start a Grassroots Patriot Group’, and a number of other informative reports.
Additional subsections of the website include, ‘Groups, Events, Blogs, Friends/Find, Docs, Petitions, Pictures, Classifieds, Create Content.’ All in all, a first-time visitor to LibertyFederation.com will find a host of interesting publications to read and a number of things to do.
Whether its education and knowledge one seeks or the ability to interact with like-minded grassroots activists, the new social media site is structured to accommodate all aspects of a political activist’s online activities.
