Anyone who’s ever seen the Bruce Willis movie ’12 Monkeys’ can imagine what’s in store for the world now that UW-Madison’s Dr. Yoshihiro Kawaoka has created the world’s most deadly and unstoppable super-virus. It’s an even more powerful strain of the H1N1 virus that killed 500,000 people in 2009. In an announcement two weeks ago, Dr. Kawaoka confirmed that his work has been a success and he and his team at UW’s Institute of Influenza Virus Research had created their unstoppable super-germ.

The ultimate weapon of mass destruction

The most deadly weapon of mass destruction ever invented now sits in an unguarded school in southern Wisconsin. Unlike all other WMD’s, this one has the potential to wipe out all of humanity with the pull of a single trigger, either on purpose or on accident. The new super-virus was bred to withstand all known human antibodies, making it one hundred percent fatal. According to the US government and the University of Wisconsin, the team now needs to rush and find an antidote for it just in case some mad scientist in the future ever creates it. If you think that thought process sounds horrifyingly dangerous and stupid, you’re not alone.

The report from the UK explains, ‘The trailblazing virologist, who has been conducting his risky experiments out of a state-of-the-art laboratory at the Institute for Influenza Virus Research in Madison, lifted the lid on the H1N1 study earlier this year during a closed-door scientific meeting, where members of the audience walked away shocked. An unnamed scientist who saw Kawaoka’s presentation explained that his colleague had picked out H1N1 strains that were resistant to antibodies and then repeated the process several time until he had on his hands a super-virus that could not be wiped out by a vaccine.’

Playing with mankind’s existence

Dr. Yoshihiro Kawaoka’s fellow scientists, one of which was quoted by the Daily Mail, explained his horrifying shock saying, “He used a flu virus that is known to infect humans and then manipulated it in such a way that it would effectively leave the global population defenseless if it ever escaped from his laboratory. Everything he did before was dangerous but this is even madder.”

The investigators also found out that the Wisconsin Institutional Biosafety Committee voted to allow the experiments to take place on-campus at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. But they report that a number of Committee members who voted to create the incurable weaponized virus weren’t told the whole story. The news outlet confirms, ‘Some members of the Committee reportedly had been in the dark until recently about details of the pandemic study. They have since expressed concerns about the research.’

Another British news outlet reached out to the country’s own bio-engineering expert, Lord May, the former chief science adviser to the British government. The article quotes May telling The Guardian, “The work they are doing is absolutely crazy. The whole thing is exceedingly dangerous.” In his own defense, Kawaoka insists that his work creating these incurable super-viruses is a service to humanity and may save lives some day.
