Defense Dept teaching Liberty, Founders are extremist

September 9, 2013. Montgomery, Ala. Thanks to an FOIA response from the DoD, Americans can now see what the US military is brainwashing our soldiers with. Yes, the military fully admits it brainwashes soldiers, simply to make them a single fighting force without question and of one mind. But thanks to a watchdog report, we see the US military teaches that things like liberty, democracy and America are extremist and worthy of filing a complaint if someone is heard promoting them.

According to the SPLC, the number of Patriot groups in the US spiked after President Obama took office.

Thanks to Judicial Watch, we now have the 133-page instruction manual used by the US Department of Defense to train personnel on how to fill out and file an EOTI report. EOTI stands for Equal Opportunity and Treatment Incidents. It’s a standard government complaint form that is used when a government employee or a member of the US military feels victimized by another person’s speech.

Beware of the ‘overtones’

As the document explains, the EOTI is to be used when an offense is not bad enough to warrant a criminal or civil complaint, such as sexual harassment or job-related discrimination. As near as your author can tell, this government complaint form is used when someone simply feels uncomfortable in the presence of another person because that person is spewing ‘hate speech’. And according to the same DoD document, hate speech includes terms such as, ‘liberties, states’ rights, and how to make the world a better place.’

The government manual also provides the definition of an EOTI Incident writing, ‘An EOTI is an overt, adverse act, occurring on or off base, directed toward an individual, group or institution which is motivated by, or has overtones based on race, color, national origin, religion or sex which has the potential to have a negative impact on the installation human relations climate.’ That’s what it says, no typos, no joke.

The DoD instruction manual gives a real-world example of an EOTI incident and a non-EOTI incident. As is often criticized, it uses a hypothetical situation where the bad guy is a black male. In this instance, the example is of a dependent black male speeding through trick-or-treaters after which he punches a white Sergeant in the face.

The manual specifically explains, ‘Question: What makes this an EOTI? Nothing. This would be considered an assault, but there is no racial motivation based on the scenario. What if the dependent Black male called the SSgt a disparaging term before hitting him? This may have then been classified as an EOTI as it would be race related i.e. overtones.’

Appearing to be stuck in the 1960’s, the authors of the Defense Dept. manual give numerous other examples of discrimination or hate speech on US military bases. Most involve liberty or white racial groups such as the KKK. In fact, there is almost no mention at all of the most common types of harassment and discrimination these days, such as anti-gay, anti-Muslim and even sexual harassment.

One example illustrates the outdated rhetoric detailing, ‘What if a local group of the KKK conducts a peaceful rally at the county courthouse? This would be classified as minor because there is no immediate danger to the loyalty, good order and discipline or morale of Air Force personnel.’ Perhaps a more current example could be of one of the 71 US soldiers raped or sexually assaulted every single day.

Southern Poverty Law Center

An article from The Daily Caller gives a scathing critique of the DoD instruction manual with a headline proclaiming, ‘Defense Department Guide calls Founding Fathers extremists’. It also doesn’t fail to mention the obvious lack of Islamic extremism included in the military manual, ‘Besides a brief reference to 9/11 and another to the Sudanese civil war, the guide makes no mention of Islamic extremism.’

The article also takes issue with the numerous and repeated plugs and business advertisements for the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) throughout the Defense Dept. manual. As it turns out, the SPLC was one of the major contributors of information to the authors of the 133-page EOTI incident report instructions.

That would explain the outdated, simplistic and anti-liberty ‘overtones’ of the DoD guide. Over the past three decades, the SPLC has proved to be a hate-speech group in itself rather than the civil rights organization it bills itself as. Known in the legal community as an ambulance-chasing law firm made up of multi-millionaires, they wouldn’t know ‘poverty’ if they walked into it. The SPLC has spent 30 years trying to convince America that ‘civil rights’ are good, but ‘civil liberties’ are bad. You figure it out.

The Daily Caller article goes on to give two real life examples of the SPLC’s hate-mongering and the violence it directly causes writing:

‘The guide also repeatedly tells readers to use the Southern Poverty Law Center as a resource in identifying hate groups. The SPLC has previously come under fire for its leftist bias and tendency to identify conservative organizations such as the American Family Association as hate groups.

In August 2012, an attempted terrorist attack occurred at the Family Research Council, another conservative organization the SPLC has branded a hate group. FRC president Tony Perkins said the SPLC’s designation prompted the attack, stating the gunman “was given a license to shoot … by organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center.”’

The American Freedom Party, also one of the many organizations considered a hate group by the SPLC, didn’t hesitate to turn the tables on its long-time adversary releasing a statement titled, ‘Department of Defense Materials hijacked by Left-wing Extremists’.

In conjunction with the release of the DoD manual, Judicial Watch also condemned it for its targeting of patriotic and conservative individuals. The organization’s President Tom Fitton criticized, “The Obama administration has a nasty habit of equating basic conservative values with terrorism. And now, in a document full of claptrap, its Defense Department suggests that the Founding Fathers, and many conservative Americans, would not be welcome in today’s military. And it is striking that some the language in this new document echoes the IRS targeting language of conservative and Tea Party investigations. After reviewing this document, one can’t help but worry for the future and morale of our nation’s armed forces.”

While conservative watchdog groups like Judicial Watch are quick to blame President Obama and his liberal allies for using the government to target and intimidate patriotic, freedom-loving citizens, this practice and accompanying fear of the American people is nothing new. Just as anti-civil rights groups like the SPLC have been targeting pro-liberty groups since the 80’s, so has the Dept. of Defense been asking its soldiers if they would fire on unarmed Americans while in the process of confiscating their guns.

Thankfully, an overwhelming number of US soldiers indicated they would not fire on unarmed Americans. But ominously, a large enough percentage said they would that it may not matter. Thanks to psychological profiling, the US military knows exactly who those soldiers are without even asking the question any longer. Looking back, that was probably the whole point of inserting it into psychological surveys issued to military personnel 30 years ago. The question today is, why is the DoD teaching its soldiers that America’s founding fathers were extremists and wanting to ‘make the world a better place’ is an objective of American terrorists?
