Benghazi suddenly becomes Obama’s Iran Contra Scandal

August 6, 2013. Benghazi. When the US Ambassador and three other Americans were killed in an attack on US staff in Benghazi, Libya on September 11, 2012, it immediately became a controversial event. But little did anyone know just how controversial. Now, CNN is confirming what conservative outlets have been reporting all along – the Benghazi scandal is much bigger than anyone is aware.

On Thursday, CNN broke the story that CIA agents connected with the fatal attack on US State Dept. employees, including the US Ambassador, have spent the last eleven months being meticulously intimidated into keeping silent regarding the true circumstances of that mysterious and bloody night in Benghazi, Libya. In fact, many agents report being subjected to monthly polygraph tests asking if they’ve talked to anyone about that night, especially the press.

The official story

As repeatedly documented by Congressional Republicans, there have been a number of official stories coming out of the Obama administration regarding what happened on Sept. 11, 2012 in Benghazi. At first, it was claimed to be a spontaneous outbreak of violence by Libyans demonstrating outside the US embassy. But Republicans proved that there were advanced warnings and calls for help from the US staff before and during the fatal assault. But neither the Clinton State Department nor the Obama White House would send help, either in the form of the US military or the CIA.

As days turned into weeks, President Obama and Secretary Clinton finally confirmed the advanced warnings and calls for help. They also affirmed that the assault wasn’t carried out by hundreds of Libyan civilians as initially claimed. Instead, it was a well-planned, heavily-armed and successful military assault by a Libyan militia against not just the US embassy, but also a secret CIA base located over a mile away. Except, President Obama and Secretary Clinton didn’t refer to it as a ‘secret CIA base’, but instead scoffed at that accusation. They insisted the facility overrun was simply the embassy ‘annex’.

The real story slowly leaks out

Keep in mind, with the administration blatantly hiding something big and pro-White House networks like CNN advertising a shocking scandal being announced exclusively tonight regarding Benghazi, it’s apparent that something big really did happen that fateful and mysterious night. But what?

According to scantily published government leaks and anonymous sources claiming to be from the CIA, the story reads like a fictional espionage novel. The bits and pieces woven together create an image of a rogue government operation that went so out-of-control, the host country let it get snuffed out. According to various accounts, always anonymous, the Benghazi embassy ‘annex’ was really a secret CIA facility used at times for an assortment of secret activities including torture, interrogation, gun trafficking, money laundering and everything else the CIA does inside a chaos-stricken former enemy state.

Those accusations were considered conspiracy theories until CNN came forward last week to confirm various aspects. Readers will have to watch the network’s special tonight to get the full details. But according to one CNN report, ‘Sources now tell CNN dozens of people working for the CIA were on the ground that night, and that the agency is going to great lengths to make sure whatever it was doing, remains a secret. CNN has learned the CIA is involved in what one source calls an unprecedented attempt to keep the spy agency’s Benghazi secrets from ever leaking out.’

The network also confirms the accusations that the CIA is polygraphing the dozens of agents present that night on a monthly basis to insure they haven’t talked.

‘Since January, some CIA operatives involved in the agency’s missions in Libya, have been subjected to frequent, even monthly polygraph examinations, according to a source with deep inside knowledge of the agency’s workings,’ CNN reported Thursday, ‘The goal of the questioning, according to sources, is to find out if anyone is talking to the media or Congress. It is being described as pure intimidation, with the threat that any unauthorized CIA employee who leaks information could face the end of his or her career. In exclusive communications obtained by CNN, one insider writes, “You don’t jeopardize yourself, you jeopardize your family as well.”’

CNN also reports that other CIA agents have told the network that the Agency usually only polygraphs its agents and employees, “every three to four years.” Compared to the monthly lie detector tests the Benghazi agents are being subjected to, it would appear something really big is being covered up.

From ‘arms for hostages’ to ‘arms for regime change’

CNN echoed earlier grassroots outlets when it reported, ‘Speculation on Capitol Hill has included the possibility the US agencies operating in Benghazi were secretly helping to move surface-to-air missiles out of Libya, through Turkey, and into the hands of Syrian rebels.’

US Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) has repeatedly called for a special investigator to look into what actually happened in Benghazi. So far, 150 fellow Congressmen have joined that call. If the accusations are true and President Obama and Secretary Clinton were secretly supplying anti-aircraft missiles to Syrian rebels, it would mean the President blatantly and repeatedly lied when he publicly denied the US was supplying the rebels with anything other than humanitarian aid.

The more specific the accusations become, the more the story is beginning to look like a replay of President Reagan’s ‘Iran-Contra’ scandal. In that illegal and secret White House program, military arms were covertly sent to Israel where they were sold to the anti-Communist Nicaraguan rebels known as the Contras to aid their revolution to overthrow their pro-Soviet government. The proceeds of the sale were then secretly funneled to Iran where it bought the freedom of America’s hostages, captured when Iranians stormed the US embassy and took most of the entire staff hostage.

When that White House operation was finally exposed, Lt. Col. Oliver North was convicted, went to prison, and became a conservative folk hero where he was rewarded with his own radio program and periodic cable TV show. The question this time around is – who is President Obama’s Oliver North? Who was the upper-level administration official that had the power to supervise illegal arms trafficking and regime change, as well as the trust of the President and the CIA not to reveal it? Some are speculating that individual is Hillary Clinton. And that would explain the desperate and unprecedented effort by the White House, State Dept, Homeland Security and CIA to keep it all secret.
