AG Eric Holder found connected to MF Global Scandal

July 27, 2012. New York. Easily the most tarnished member of the Obama administration, US Attorney General Eric Holder has found himself on both sides of the law yet again. This time, it is the MF Global scandal in which Jon Corzine has been fingered in the disappearance of $1.6 billion dollars. Corzine and Holder have more than their association with MF Global in common. They’re both mega-fundraisers for the Obama campaign.

President Obama and Jon Corzine. Investigators still can’t find that missing $1.6 billion.

One of the only members of the Executive Branch to have ever been accused of Contempt of Congress, Eric Holder has literally found himself on both sides of the law on numerous occasions. His attorneys were caught withholding evidence in their seemingly political prosecution of former US Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK). Holder has admitted to providing false testimony to Congress regarding the Fast and Furious scandal. While allegedly targeting Mexican drug cartels, his departments actually sold thousands of military weapons to the cartels. His attorneys let go the target of the Fast and Furious operation, twice. His agents have decimated the legal medical marijuana industry in California, while at the same time the Federal government grows and distributes its own medical marijuana.

Holder has settled with big banks, Fannie and Freddie over the crimes of the housing meltdown, securing billions of dollars in payments to the federal government with no criminal charges and little or no justice for individual homeowners. Holder has enacted a ‘Sanctuary Nation’ status for the US, refusing to prosecute or turn-over criminal illegal aliens. Upon Contempt charges, Holder was put in charge of investigating himself on behalf of the DoJ and immediately announced there would be no investigation. And the least talked about scandal associated with Attorney General Eric Holder is his connection to President Obama and their unbending dedication to protecting each other from criminal investigation.

MF Global and Jon Corzine

An article yesterday from Breitbart.com exposed a little-known connection between MF Global and US Attorney General Eric Holder. According to recent findings, the Attorney General’s former law firm, Covington & Burlington, is one of the law firms used by the criminally bankrupt MF Global. Holder’s Assistant Attorney General, Lanny Breuer, is also a former attorney for Covington & Burlington.

The report goes on to reveal another questionable coincidence. Records show that the DoJ’s Associate Attorney General, Tony West, came from the law firm Morrison & Foerester. That just happens to be the very same law firm chosen to be the trustee for MF Global’s bankruptcy filing. Tony West, in his role as co-chairman of the Obama election campaign, helped raise an estimated $65 million for the President.

As if that weren’t enough, former FBI Director Louis Freeh also finds himself at the center of the scandal. An investigation by Peter Schweizer, author of the book ‘Throw Them All Out’, and published in Wednesday’s Washington Times reveals that the attorney overseeing the MF Global bankruptcy is Louis Freeh. For readers who don’t remember, Breitbart.com reminds us that Freeh was a character witness on behalf of Eric Holder during the Attorney General’s US Senate confirmation hearing.

It is these questionable connections that have led critics to wonder why, after the largest financial collapse in American history, not one single person has been charged or convicted in the MF Global billion-dollar theft.

Some journalists have even speculated on the reasons Eric Holder’s Justice Dept. appears to be protecting Corzine and MF Global. An account from HotAir.com gives three possibilities:

  • The DoJ isn’t in the business of prosecuting bankers anymore.
  • Jon Corzine was, and still is, a mega-bundler for President Obama’s re-election campaign.
  • Conflicts of interest galore at the DoJ when it comes to Corzine and MF Global.

The report’s author suggests the most likely reason for the DoJ-MF Global collusion is option two above. Recent campaign disclosures reveal that Mitt Romney’s Super-PAC’s have outspent President Obama’s Super-PAC’s by a margin of 3 to 1, $27.2 million for the Republican Romney and $9.4 million for the Democrat Obama. Numbers reflect ad buys and other expenditures as of July 23, 2012.

Showing just how deep the $1.6 billion in missing MF Global money goes, The Washington Times credits Bloomberg with revealing that, ‘MF Global had written clauses into bond offerings indicating that Mr. Corzine, a former Democratic US Senator and Governor of New Jersey, might join a future Obama administration as a Cabinet officer.’

Congress reacts

As each new revelation is revealed concerning Eric Holder’s Justice Dept., MF Global and Jon Corzine, more and more members of Congress step forward asking AG Holder to appoint a special prosecutor to take over the investigation. The most recent count shows 65 members of Congress that have signed onto a letter to Eric Holder requesting just that.

With Attorney General Holder’s track record, it’s not likely he will appoint a special prosecutor. Just as he refused to appoint one to investigate himself over the Contempt of Congress charge, as well as a half dozen other scandals, nobody but the President himself can force the AG to act. And with President Obama mired in his own legal scandals, coincidentally not being investigated by Holder’s DoJ, it is not likely either man will upset the balance of their mutual protection.
